What an employee transport contract should include

Many disputes over transport contracts come from a clause nobody wrote down. Here is what the contract should cover so you know exactly what you are paying for.

The bus and the driver

Specify the model and capacity for each route, and the equipment: air conditioning, tracking, cameras and seat belts. State that the driver is licensed and works in uniform.

Maintenance, insurance and sanitisation

In bus leasing with driver, preventive maintenance, insurance and follow-up sit with the transport company. Ask for this to be stated explicitly, along with regular sanitisation.

Standby and continuity

What happens when a bus breaks down or goes in for maintenance? A good contract provides for a replacement bus and sets out how you are informed.

Supervision and reporting

Name the transport supervisor and how to reach them, and which reports you receive and when: daily, weekly or monthly, and which indicators they contain.

Term and cost

Monthly contracts give flexibility; annual contracts give stability. Either way, ask for a clear fixed cost that shows what is and is not included.
